Have you ever wondered about the art of Japanese seal carving? Join me to explore Tensho (篆書), or Seal Script, one of the oldest styles of Chinese writing and the foundation of traditional Japanese name seals.

During this hands-on workshop, you’ll learn about the history and various styles of Seal Script, discover examples carved on different materials dating back approximately 4,000 years, and create your own personalized seal design.

With guidance from Kisyuu, you’ll learn how to write your chosen character in Seal Script, transfer your design onto a small stone (approximately 1.5-2cm), and carve your very own seal to take home.

Everything will be prepared for you at the studio, including a carving stone, sample design sheets, handouts, and a red ink pad to keep. Carving knives and other equipment will be available for rental.

Just bring yourself and your curiosity!

Please note: A minimum of 2 participants is required to run the workshop, with a maximum of 5 participants. Space is limited, so register early!
